Looking for a cheap, fun, and quick activity that is bound to bring hours of entertainment for the kids this winter? Today, we made GAK! It was so cool making it and watching it change into GAK! I saw this idea over at Lil Luna – check our her tutorial on how to make GAK.
Here’s what you’ll need …

Supplies:
- TWO 4 oz. bottles of Elmer’s Glue
- 1 tsp. Borax (found in the laundry detergent section of the store)- Water
- Plastic Cup
- Bowl
- Food Coloring
DIRECTIONS:

1) Begin by emptying the two bottles of glue into a bowl. Then fill bottles with warm water and shake. Empty into your bowl.

2.) Add some food coloring. I used Wilton Food Colors (all I had on hand) – she picked purple and green and I spooned out about a 1/2 tsp. of wilton food coloring. By the way I dyed my hands purple on the purple GAK – YIKES!!! In the tutorial from Lil Luna she used Betty Crocker food coloring so pretty much any food coloring will work!

3) Add 1/2 cup warm water to your cup. Add 1 tsp. borax to the water and mix until borax dissolves. Then pour this into your glue bowl. Start stirring and you will notice how it starts becoming stringy. Keep mixing by using your hands and squishing around. You will notice after a few minutes that it has become pretty gelatinous.

4.) Now, it’s time to let the kids play!! Have fun ;)
